Last few weeks I was deparatly looking for a performance monitorong tools for Linux servers for a customer what I am incharge. The customer has a huge establishment of Rehat based linux servers, most of them are web servers and Oracle based Db servers. Their requiremnt is to capture the server performance statistics like CPU, Memory and swap in a graphical format and present to their customers.
I was started with Cacti, but I didnt like the look and feel of that product. Then after a lot of googling, u was come across a utility calles sargraph. To say open I am addicted to the demo of that tool, and downloaded it. Its very usefull and stunning front end for sar (system activity repors), Basicall this will work by capturing teh sar reports of various server and present to you in a stunning graphical format. You have teh convenience if selecting teh servers, selecting the Graph styles and eben we can generate graphs based on historical data.
Sargraph is a web based tool, and needs username and password to login in order to access teh graphs. And all its administartion is based on commands and its very simple. I did teh installation in 10mins and added aroung 45 Redhat servers in the server repostory for monitoring. Its comes with CPU. memory. swap and run-queue.
You can download the sargraph from http://www.sargraph.com/
